William Hill has won the prestigious eGaming Review (EGR) for Gambling Operator of the year award, at the Honorable Artillery Club (HAC) in London, against fierce competitors like Bet365 and 888, to name just a few.

One of the panels stated that William Hill Online was able to keep pace with the ever growing online gaming business and that they are not going to falter anytime soon.

William Hill C.E.O Henry Birch said the eGR award for operator of the year means that the online gaming industry acknowledges the efforts William Hill has made over the year and he went to thank the employees who have worked so hard to achieve such excellence.

William Hill was one of the first to enter the online gambling arena back in 1998. It is now one of the leading UK online gambling companies. They have over one million active online customers and offer online gambling for casino, poker, bingo, a range of skill games and sports betting.

William Hill has a joint venture deal with  software provider Playtech in William Hill Online. This deal has made William Hill one of the top European online gaming sites. This has in turn increased growth in net revenue, operating profit and active players. This deal though has not been without controversy.

William Hill have in the last year had to content with a staff uprising and had to take out a legal injunction against Playtech in order to protect its interests in the joint venture. It will be interesting to see if William Hill Online can sustain their initial success and become one of the truly major players of online gambling.
